Traditionally, surgical approach to lateral condyle has involved a lateral approach, stemming from from historical studies that describe a posteriorly-based fragment perfusion and recommend against posterior soft-tissue dissection. Nevertheless, several studies have demonstrated positive intraoperative and postoperative outcomes utilizing a posterior approach, which provides more direct access to lateral condyle fragmentation, and as we have found, more complete evaluation of articular fracture extension. This video demonstrates the approach through the evaluation of pediatric cadaveric elbow specimens, which have not previously been described in the scientific literature.
